Call 811 at least a few days before you start any digging project. Whether you are planning to do it yourself or hire a professional you are required to inform all utility agencies that have a utility in the area so they can visit the site and mark their utility before excavation begins. It’s excavation law, section 4216 that mandates this process for everyone.
